Hi, I’m Claire Byrne the wedding photographer, not the presenter or the councillor, although I do get lots of calls & texts on my phone on the nights of Claire Byrne Live. :) I’m a freelance photographer working throughout Ireland – and abroad – when I’m lucky. When I studied for a BA in photography at IADT, I didn’t initially set out to become a wedding photographer. I spent a year abroad travelling in 2012 and found myself more drawn to taking photos of the people than the scenery. I felt like I could see more of a story in the local faces than in historical buildings. Real people inspire me so much that it made sense to start shooting weddings. 11 years later I’m still loving it.

A wedding has so many pieces and layers and people and love and emotion. I make sure to get all the expected photos and make everyone feel at ease. When I leave a wedding, I often feel like a good friend.

I also spend time creating personal art for myself and exhibiting when I can. I also work as a freelance medical eye photographer. Did you know that the back of your eye is strangely beautiful, like a forest – But I’m not going to get that close on a wedding day, don’t worry!!
